What is Polaris?

Polaris is a Beowulf cluster dedicated to computational modeling of research in speech, language and literacy development and disorders. It is the heart of the Computational Modeling core facility for the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network (CLLRNet).

Beowulf computer clusters are a new approach to high performance computing - they are an assembly of off-the-shelf computing components running the Linux operating system. The result is a high performance parallel computer system at a fraction of the cost of standard supercomputers.
