Major Research Activities My research investigates the cognitive bases of language processes by merging empirical research and computational modeling. This research program seeks to uncover the types of factors influencing the development of language and reading skills in normally developing children, and in children with developmental language impairments and reading impairments. I am currently involved in three types of research. The first focuses on computational models of language development and disorders, which I use to study the relationships between impaired speech perception and grammatical disorders in these children. I am also studying the development of phonology and speech processing in language and reading impaired children using various behavioural measures including eye tracking. Finally, I have been using functional MRI as a measure of neural activity during speech and language processing tasks.
