Major Research Activities

My major current research activities involve exploring parental and peer roles in the development of social competence. In several collaborative projects, we are exploring how individuals within families negotiate and resolve conflicts and how relationships within families are linked to children's social behaviour and peer friendships. I also have a long standing interest in parenting beliefs and discipline and I am currently involved in studies examining maternal beliefs about children's aggression and mother-child collaborative problem solving.
