Language Development in Preschool-aged French-speaking Children

Sutton, Ann

Learning to understand and use spoken language is one of the major
accomplishments of young children. Because the preschool period is
critical for language development, it is essential to identify problems with
speech and language development as early as possible. Assessment
tools that are appropriate for the particular language and culture are
needed but have not yet been created for French-speaking children in
Canada. The purpose of this project is to obtain accurate descriptions of
language development in these children so that the needed assessment
tools can be created.
