Bilingualism is an important research topic, particularly so, in our officially bilingual country. Bilingualism also offers a unique opportunity to test models of reading processes. The development at Université de Moncton of a CLLRNet Core Facility to support bilingual literacy research will allow CLLRNet researchers to 1) undertake a range of experimental studies relating to children who are learning to speak and read in both official languages, as well as adults who are bilinguals; 2) use this facility to investigate the impact of bilingualism on reading processes, and 3) investigate the interplay between the cognitive processes involved in reading and the pattern of eye-movements that provides the orthographic inputs to these processes.
