 RESEARCH PROGRAMS

CLLRNet’s Research Program ‘shares the science’ by encouraging collaboration between the many sectors involved in children’s literacy, including basic and applied scientists, educators, clinicians, parents and caregivers, and industrial and government partners. Our projects unite over 90 researchers from 24 universities across Canada, with research teams spanning more than 11 disciplines.

CLLRNet funded 42 projects across 5 Theme areas for FY2001-2002. The first year of funding runs from October 1st, 2001 to December 31st, 2002. Applications for funding renewal will be due on September 1, 2002.

 TRAINING, EDUCATION AND ACCESS

A significant priority for The Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network is training: educating scientists, teachers, health and childcare staff, and professionals in training with regard to the relevant scientific knowledge and to encourage policies and practices that create the best outcomes for children

To generate change, we will develop a new generation of professionals with skills fully grounded in evidence-based science and best practices.

Equally important, we will create an integrated forum to share learning, disseminate knowledge and build bridges between partners from different sectors and disciplines. The Network will be an easily accessible, bias-free resource of knowledge, available to all, to the benefit of Canadian children everywhere.
