Student Network Executive seeks additional members
At the Annual Scientific Conference in Victoria, the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network officially launched the 2003 Student Network. At the Student Network Meeting half of the 10-member Student Executive Committee was introduced. At this time we are seeking applications to fill the remaining 5 executive positions. We are seeking students in all disciplines and levels of training to participate actively and effectively in the Network’s agenda. We want to underline the importance of the Student Network to the Network as a whole. The future success of research and practice directed at language and literacy deficiencies in Canada ultimately rests in your hands. Therefore, we ask students with leadership qualities and experience in organizational work to join us now in volunteering their time, effort, and ideas to Student Network administration.
We are especially looking for students who have experience working with others on committees, and who are willing to devote time to the development of the Network. The incoming five members of the Executive Committee will remain on the Executive until June 2005, when a new group of five will be elected by the Student Network.
To apply to be a member of the Student Network Executive, please download the application form, complete it, and return it to Randy Lynn Newman (randy@cllrnet.ca) by 8 August 2003.
We hope that many of you may be interested in participating in the development and expansion of the Student Network by taking a role in the Executive Committee. Should you wish any additional information, please feel free to contact Randy Lynn at randy@cllrnet.ca. We look forward to a fruitful and lively discussion leading toward the establishment of a strong and viable Student Network.
Sincerely,
The Student Network Executive Committee
