HQPC Welcomes Alice Eriks-Brophy as Student Network Liaison!
The Highly Qualified Personnel Committee (HQPC) is happy to announce the
appointment of Alice Eriks-Brophy as HQPC Liaison to the CLLRNet Student
Network (SN). Alice is the HQPC's first Ad Hoc member and we welcome her warmly
and gratefully. On behalf of the Network, the HQPC recently established the
Terms of Reference and Organizational Structure of the SN. Alice
Eriks-Brophy will support and advise the implementation, activities,
maintenance, and direction of the SN under its terms of reference. We begin
by extending sincere thanks to the founding members of the SN: Nicole
Conrad, Tracy Dow, Martha Roberts, and Christine Tsang. Their generous
enthusiasm and efforts got the SN off to a great start. As these Network
students go forward to begin academic and professional careers we wish them
continued success.
Alice's first task is to select five students who span geographic and
research areas to form the first half of the SN Executive. A second
(overlapping) set of five Executive members will be elected by the students
at the next Annual Scientific Meeting in Victoria. Alice is searching for
students who have past organizational and administrative experience and
expertise and a willingness to contribute to the Network through teamwork.
Would you please send Alice the names of graduate students you think might
like to participate (a.eriks.brophy@utoronto.ca)? We only need five from the
over 170 who are registered on the Network, but all five must plan to
continue as students (doctoral or postdoctoral level) until May 2004. Please
help Alice by sending her names by the first of the year.
With thanks to all,
The HQPC
