Scientific Director on National Panel for Knowledge Dissemination Study

HALIFAX, January 20, 2021 - News Release from the Canadian Association of Research Libraries

The Research Team of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries’ study is pleased to announce the membership of the study’s Consensus Panel.

The study entitled 0ptimizing the Transformation of Knowledge Dissemination: Towards a Canadian Research Strategy aims to identify critical areas within the Canadian scholarly communication system that must be addressed and propose a research strategy for knowledge dissemination in Canada. As such, the study will be employing a consensus process methodology using the input of Canadian researchers- the creators and users of scholarly knowledge.

The ten panel members were drawn from a pool of over 70 researchers from a range of disciplines and at various stages of the research careers. Over the next several months, the panel will be considering input from other Canadian researchers, stakeholders, and experts using web-based technologies. These presentations will also be available to all interested parties to the general public via the study website.

The Panel members are as follows:

Mr. Darren Anderson, Ph. D. Student, Chemistry, University of Toronto.

Dr. Andrew Applejohn, Director, Aurora Research Institute, Artic Studies, Aurora College, Inuvik.

Dr. Hélène Beauchamp, Director, Centre de recherches théatrales, Theatre, Ecole supérieure de théatre, Université du Québec a Montréal.

Dr. Richard Cunningham, Assistant Professor, English, Acadia University.

Dr. Karen R. Grant, Vice-Provost (Academic Affairs), Sociology, University of Manitoba.

Dr. Donald Jamieson, CEO and Scientific Director, Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network, Cognitive Psychology, University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Beverly Lemire, Professor, History, University of New Brunswick.

Dr. Richard S. Rosenberg, Professor, Computer Science, University of British Columbia.

Dr. Guy Tremblay, Assistant Professor, Medicine, Université Laval.

Dr. Cora Weber-Pillwax, Program Coordinator of First Nations Education, Educational Policy Studies, University of Alberta.
