Research Management Committee

Objective

The Research Management Committee (RMC) works to maximize the efficiency and impact of The Network's Research Program.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Scientific Director, the Research Management Committee facilitates The Network's research program through activities which include:

• Guiding and managing Network research by:
• Developing strong and coherent research Themes to implement the various components of the Network's Strategic Research Plan;
• Identifying opportunities and needs for research investment;
• Identifying criteria and process for reviewing Network research proposals;
• Reviewing the progress by Research Themes and within individual Network research projects;
• Recommending adjustments to the Network's Research Program, including initiating new projects, terminating projects, adding new Network Investigators, and allocating funds to research projects;
• Liaison with Network Investigators within each Theme, including:
  • Communication with respect to project progress, and opportunities for program development;
  • Facilitating participation in Network activities, including communications and knowledge transfer;
  • Encouraging collaborations across Themes;
• Facilitating knowledge transfer by:
  • Identifying Network research which a) may contain commercializable Network-supported IP or b) could beneficially influence public policy, educational/clinical practice, and/or public attitudes and activities;
  • Contributing to the design and effective implementation of the Network's Communication Plan.
