Partners Committee
Objectives
The Partners Committee (PC) is responsible for developing and implementing a plan to strengthen and advance Network Partnering activities. The plan defines mechanisms for: facilitating effective partnering, developing new partnerships and partnership strategies, and evaluating strengths and weaknesses of partnering activities.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors through their Chair, the Partners Committee facilitates the work of the Network through activities which include:
- Providing a formal mechanism for community input into the planning and execution of Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network programs, including:
- Advising Network members of relevant issues, policies, programs and initiatives which may influence the Network's activities and success;
- Providing advice on the design and execution of the Network's Communication Plan.
- Facilitating Partnership development by:
- Serving as a liaison between their organization/sector and the Network;
- Identifying and helping to implement new partnership opportunities;
- Working with Network investigators and administrative staff to implement effective partnerships;
- Facilitating the Network's Research Program by:
- Communicating the research needs and priorities of their sectors and organizations;
- Advising on relevance and partnership issues associated with the Network's Research Program;
- Identifying opportunities for and helping to obtain external funding for Network projects;
- Identifying opportunities to develop collaborative projects with partner agencies;
- Assisting the Network to obtain financial and other support for the Research Program;
- Facilitating knowledge transfer by:
- Communicating the knowledge needs and priorities of their sectors and organizations;
- Identifying Network knowledge which could beneficially influence public policy, educational/clinical practice, and/or public attitudes;
- Identifying mechanisms through which the Network could effectively influence public policy and educational/clinical practices;
- Working with Network management and investigators to communicate project outcomes and Network knowledge more effectively;
- Facilitating training initiatives by:
- Communicating the personnel needs and training priorities of their sectors and organizations.
- Identifying opportunities for training to improve educational/clinical practice, policy, research capacity or industrial capacity;
- Identifying mechanisms to improve Network training initiatives;
- Assisting the Network to obtain financial and other support for training initiatives.
