WHAT'S NEW?

The new logo for The Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network will boost recognition, retention and ease of use.

What this illustrative addition achieves over time:

WHAT THE logo REPRESENTS.

The new Network logo is based on three design elements: Literacy (the book), Science (the microscope) and Language (the speech bubble). The softened lines, the illustrative style and the speech bubble, specifically, are graphic shapes that we use to imply early childhood development.

WHY AN logo, WHY NOW?

Our logo is being used in more and more places – it needed updating to fit those applications. It needed to be simpler, it needed to be graphic, it needed to be able to stand alone and stand out in a crowd of partner logos.

THE SLOGAN

Sharing Science. Opening Minds. This has been the Network slogan since 2001. It supports cross-discipline scientific collaboration (that which makes us unique); it supports partnering (an important part of our future); and it inspires the possibility of opening minds and building better futures for children.

Always use the logo and slogan together. When possible, use the bilingual logo and slogan.

WHY STANDARDS ARE NEEDED.

Graphic standards boost retention. Standards are easier to use. Standards reduce costs by limiting duplication. These Network standards have been developed so that everyone involved can find the 'look' and the answers they need.
