My colleague, Luigi Girolametto, and I are interested in examining how early childhood educators facilitate language development of young children in child care settings, as well as how they foster peer interaction. We are exploring the interactions of caregivers and young children with language impairment, and ways to train teachers to apply language facilitation strategies flexibly and spontaneously, accommodating children's individual styles and stages of language development.

The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?

Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
