Biography: With a background in cognitive psychology, reading, and language education, one aspect of her research is in the area of inferential reasoning. Specifically, she studies the role of inferential reasoning in text comprehension across different ages and text genres. Currently, her research includes early literacy intervention work, family literacy, and patterns of school achievement. Research on what ought to be the goal of scientific literacy, on curricular issues, and the texture of school texts and media reports of science is an ongoing part of her research. Work on the use of MRI to identify specific reading disabilities is another area of her current research program. |
The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?
