Biography: I am currently conducting two lines of research. The objective of one of these components is to uncover fundamental principles of human memory and cognitive control of processing. For example, I am examining the influence of context and various types of knowledge on processes involved in identifying words and objects. I am also studying how resolution of conflict between two competing processes modulates the subsequent functioning of those processes when performed in the absence of competition. In the other line of research, I am studying the potential for development of literacy skills associated with playing computer and video games. Cognitive skills such as constructing strategies for optimizing the distribution of scarce resources and development of an intuitive understanding of the principles that govern the motion of objects are being examined. |
The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?
Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
