Biography: My major current research activities involve exploring parental and peer roles in the development of social competence. In several collaborative projects, we are exploring how individuals within families negotiate and resolve conflicts and how relationships within families are linked to children's social behaviour and peer friendships. I also have a long standing interest in parenting beliefs and discipline and I am currently involved in studies examining maternal beliefs about children's aggression and mother-child collaborative problem solving. |
The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?
Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
