Biography:

In this project, researchers will analyze literacy teaching practices in data from about 10 elementary and secondary classrooms (French immersion and English medium)over a period of years; with special attention to the learning needs of children who come from diverse language backgrounds (i.e. other than one of Canada's two official languages). They will also collect further data in regular English and French immersion intermediate level (grades 5-7) classrooms in order to make recommendations about effective instructional practices with learners of diverse language origins.

The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?

Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
