Biography:

Dr. McGrath is clinical psychologist with particular interest in novel ways of delivering interventions to children and families. His current research includes use of telephone and web interventions for mental health disorders in childhood. He has developed materials for families for problems as diverse as pain, cancer pain and cystic fibrosis. He also writes a weekly column for families.

Dr. McGrath has been awarded numerous awards including the Order of Canada for his research. He is the Vice President Research at the IWK Health Centre and Professor of Psychology, Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Dalhousie University.

The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?

Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
