My research emphasizes cortical plasticity in experimental animals and humans. I am especially interested in the role that is played by neural synchrony in the coding of complex (e.g., speech like) sounds in the auditory cortex. I have also been actively involved in the study of the frequency-specific development of the human cochlea and auditory brainstem using distortion product oto-acoustic emission and derived band auditory brain stem potentials.

The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?

Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
