Biography: My general research interests are in the area of children’s social development and peer relationships in early childhood – with a focus on factors that influence adjustment in preschool and kindergarten. Recent research has explored how child temperament (i.e., shyness, emotionality) might influence early academic skills; and how language skills (i.e., pragmatics, expressive vocabulary) might serve a protective role for shy children in terms of facilitating social interaction with peers. |
The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?
Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
