Network Privacy Statement
The Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network is committed to protecting your personal right to privacy. This document describes elements of our Information Privacy Policy as it applies to The Network’s public Web site. This includes:
- What information does The Network collect when I visit the public Web site?
- How is collected information used, stored, and shared?
- Moderation of content on The Network Web site.
- Links to third party Web sites.

1) What information does The Network collect when I visit The Network Web site?
The Network automatically collects information about your visit to our public Web site. This includes your language preference, Internet IP address, web browser, operating system and page viewed.
The Network Web site sometimes solicits and collects personal information from you in connection with Network activities, through web forms that you complete and submit on a voluntary basis.
2) How is collected information used, stored, and shared?
Information about your visit to The Network Web site is summarized to produce visit statistics for The Network Web site. This information is also used to improve the layout of information on the Web site and increase its ease of use. The Network will use monthly and annual visits statistics in publications and for other purposes.
Visit statistics are made available to selected members of The Network, the Networks of Centres of Excellence Directorate and other organizations that may require this information.
Any web form, which collects personal information about you on our Web site, contains a brief description of how the collected information will be used, how long it will be stored, and who will have access to it. Steps have been taken to ensure the privacy and protection of personal information that is collected/stored on our Web site/server. These steps include: your personal information will not be provided to other corporations or individuals, except as required by law or as evidence of illegal use of The Network Web site.

As a general rule, this means that content appearing in some areas of The Network Web site is not verified for accuracy, edited or approved by Network staff members or volunteers before appearing on the Web site. Thus The Network does not assume any responsibility for the accuracy of such unmoderated content or for any other matter related to it.
4) Links to third party Web sites.
The Network Web site contains links to third-party Web sites. The Network does not moderate these third-party Web sites or links to them from The Network Web site. Privacy Policies at these third-party Web sites may differ from The Network’s. The Network does not assume responsibility for the protection of privacy, accuracy of content or any other matter with respect to these third-party Web sites or links to them.
5) Changes to privacy statement.
This privacy statement may be updated at any time.
