Major Research Activities I am a cognitive psychologist with broad interests in human cognition, perception and skill acqusition. Much of my work has related to the acquisition of spoken language skills, including efficient and accurate methods for assessing and/or training such skills.
Domains of successful application include: 1. phonological / articulation disorders in children; 2. technology to facilitate language acquisition by hearing impaired children; 3. computer-assisted second language training; 4. assessment and treatment of voice disorders; and 5. development, evaluation and refinement of novel intervention methods.
Most work has been undertaken in close collaboration with clinical and/or industrial partners. Several methods have had broad clinical implementation and/or have been licensed for and implemented in commercial systems.
