Major Research Activities

Has regularly presented at invited symposia at the annual meetings of the associations: Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, American Association of Applied Linguistics and American Educational Research Association. Published in TESOL Quarterly, Curriculum Inquiry, The Canadian Modern Language Review among others. In 2000, Multilingual Matters published her longitudinal study of the second language learning of a group of minority language background children, Learning English at school: Identity, social relations and classroom practice.

CLLRNet Research Projects

• A sociocultural investigation of language learning in the intermediate grades: Children of diverse origins in English medium and French immersion classrooms.  (Project Leader)
