About Dan:
After graduating from the University of Waterloo in 1987, I started my
career as a Program Officer for various Provincial and Federal Government
Departments. I have held several senior positions at the Ministry of
Colleges and Universities and Premier's Council Technology Fund of the
Ontario Government. In 1990 I joined the University-Industry Program of
NSERC and administered a number of flagship programs. In 1998 I moved to
London Ontario to take a position in the Office of Industry Liaison and
Technology Transfer at Western. During that time, I helped start up several
companies including ek3 Technologies Inc. which was founded by two
Electrical Engineering students. I helped the company secure their seed
financing and left the University to become their President and Chief
Officer. The company has grown to 24 employees and is doing well. I left
in the spring of 2001 to start-up the Network and I am looking forward to
the seven exciting years ahead of us.
I am married with two kids. My daughter Leah is 10 years old and my son,
Ben is 7 years old. I enjoy training and racing for triathlons. My next
big race will be this summer as I try to complete my third Ironman distance
race in Lake Placid, New York on July 28th.
