The Network's own Katy Evans is now known as Katy Pocock. Katy and Dave celebrated a mid-October nuptial in Bayfield, Ontario and honeymooned in Quebec City. Congratulations Katy and Dave!








  • On July 3, 2003, Network researcher Susan Rvachew made the two following presentations at the Child Phonology Conference at The University of British Columbia: Expressive Phonology, Phonemic Perception, Receptive Vocabulary and Phonological Awareness Skills; and Productive Morphology Skills of Children with Speech Delay.

  • Managing Director Dan Sinai attended The XYZ Literacy Conference from June 17-19, 2003 at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The Conference included sessions and workshops delivered by locally, nationally and internationally known speakers on a range of topics that contribute to community-based literacy. Network researcher Vianne Timmons also attended the conference as a presenter, conducting a workshop entitled Family Literacy: Connecting Community and also acted as a facilitator.

  • Jacqueline Specht, Network researcher, has moved from the Department of Psychology at The University of Western Ontario to the Faculty of Education. While her email remains the same, Jacqueline's new phone number is: 519.661.2111 ext. 88876.

  • The Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) and the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network co-sponsored a pre-conference workshop on central auditory processing at the 6th Annual CAA conference that took place in Vancouver, B.C. from October 15-18, 2003. Prudence Allen, along with Chris Allen, presented this workshop. The day focused on mechanisms, theories of auditory processing, the measurement of auditory abilities and auditory processing, and a child's acquisition of communication skills and academic achievement.
