Network researcher recognized in Canada's Top 40

Ravi Menon,39, a leading imaging scientist at Robarts Research Institute, a Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network researcher and a Canada Research Chair in Functional Magnetic Resonance, has been recognized by Caldwell Partners International as one of Canada's, "Top 40 Under 40".

Honorees this year were chosen from over 1,400 nominees by 29 business and community leaders and rated on the following criteria: vision and leadership, innovation and achievement, community involvement, impact and strategy for growth. Menon is being recognized for leading 10 researchers in using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to aid in solving the puzzles surrounding such neurological processes as decision-making, and such neurological disorders as schizophrenia.

Within The Network, Menon leads the core facility fMRI lab at the Robarts Research Institute in London, Ontario. The objective of The Network project led by Menon is to provide a neuroimaging resource and expertise for researchers within The Network to perform human brain imaging studies that are relevant to The Network's goals. The London, Ontario network facility under Menon's supervision, along with the other fMRI lab in Alberta led by Christian Beaulieu, provides the necessary tools, expertise and access to Network researchers in both Western and Eastern Canada who wish to use fMRI for the study of hearing, speech, vision, language and comprehension.

For eight years, Caldwell Partners International, Canada's largest executive search firm, has managed the program entitled, "Top 40 Under 40", co-sponsored by Air Canada, The Globe and Mail, TD Financial Group and Birks. The end product of the program is a list honouring Canadians who have reached a distinguished level of success before reaching age 40.
