Biography:

I am currently a PhD student at Wilfrid Laurier University, working with Dr. Alexandra Gottardo. I am interested in the relationship between print exposure and the development of reading-related skills such as reading comprehension and vocabulary. I am also involved in the Abracadabra project here at Laurier with Dr. Eileen Wood, as one of my comprehensive research projects.

As an extension of my research interests, I have lots of experience working with children from diverse learning, and linguistic backgrounds.

I also serve on the Student Network Executive Committee, so if you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Future Interests:

The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way off learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?

Reading is the core of learning and staying in school . improving reading skills with young Aboriginal children can open up the doors to future prospects.
