Biography: I'm a Software Engineering Designer at the National Center for Audiology located in Elborn college at the University of Western Ontario. I have been with the center since November of 2001. I have a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. I also have obtained a two year diploma in Computer Engineering Technology from Seneca College in North York Ontario. In March 2004 I completed an Advanced PLC programming and design course at Fanshawe College. I have over ten years of experience with the Linux Operating System. My experience includes designing, building and maintaining a commercial forty node Beowulf Cluster for the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network. I have also designed multiple commercial web applications. I was the designer and creator of the UWOmail.com web-mail application that the University of Western Ontario used as their main student web mail application for two years. My past and current work involves designing many Interactive CDs and online courses. At my current position as a Software Engineering Designer, I am designing a software (based on the DSL algorithm) to calibrate hearing aids for hearing aid manufacturers to use in their calibration devices. My interests are Linux and the open source community, embedded systems, computer networks and architecture, and software engineering design methods. |
The language and culture of my heritage is passed on to me orally. it's a different way of learning than how I am taught at school. How do I keep my traditional culture alive while learning to read and being immersed in the majority culture?
Reading is the core of learning and staying in school. Improving my reading skills will open up the doors to future prospects.
