6th Annual Network Conference
More than 225 delegates attended the 6th Annual Network Conference "Research at Work," held in Calgary, Alberta. The goal for this year's conference was to focus on the practical applications of language and literacy research, as well as to help connect professionals involved in various facets of language and literacy development.Program highlights included keynote addresses by Susan B. Neuman, Professor of Educational Studies, University of Michigan School of Education, and by Jacqueline Leighton, Associate Professor, Centre for Research in Applied Measurement and Evaluation, University of Alberta. Symposia on Aboriginal Literacy and Family Literacy featured keynote speakers George Fulford, Associate Professor, University of Winnipeg, and Linda M. Phillips, Professor and Director, Canadian Centre for Research on Literacy, University of Alberta, respectively. The symposia also offered interactive panel discussions, which addressed key issues and challenges.
