About us

The Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network was formed by a group of leading Canadian researchers with a long-standing scientific interest in language and literacy. We believe that Canada's competitiveness in the future depends on our children being able to communicate effectively. By working as an integrated network, we help Canada's leading minds to discover evidence-based ways to help children.

Our programs engage more than 165 researchers at 37 Canadian institutions, with more than 235 trainees and over 100 partner organizations from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Each year, we support more than 40 projects to advance knowledge and address the gaps identified by our partners and research teams. Our knowledge exchange activities make research readily applicable for educators, practitioners and policy makers.

I don't have any books and nobody reads to me at home. I don't like school, except for recess. The longer I go without help, the more I will fall behind.

Effective reading instruction can overcome challenges at home. Early intervention and prevention are key.
